Got smoke pushing out of the vent tube. Doesn't look like it's puffing, just kinda steady blowing. Pulled the dipstick to check the oil, it's pushing smoke from there too. Pulled the oil fill cap, and yep, it's pushing more smoke. It's also making a squeeling sound, like something is about to let go. I can hear it with the fill cap off.

EGT is normal, water temp normal, oil pressure normal, oil level is fine, no noticeable loss of power. Just lots of stinky oil burning kinda smoke.

Any ideas?

TIA,

That doesn't sound good :(

Some how the crankcase is being pressurized, either blow by the rings or something else.

Good luck to ya

Pyro is pre-turbo. Peak temp, according to the recall on my gauge, was 1394*. That was standing on it about 3-4 weeks ago, and it was only there for about a second, and then it came down. I'm pretty careful about EGT's, I keep one eye on the gauge and one on the road when I get into it. Typically I see <1250, I usually back off the throttle when it gets close to 1250. The idiot light on my gauge is set for 1200.

Other than that, water temp, EGT, oil pressure, level were all fine. Drained the coolant last night, didn't see any oil in the overflow bottle. Drained the oil this morning and it looked normal, maybe a little thin, but it was about 500-600 miles overdue for a change.

It was running like a top except for the smoke blowing out of the draft tube.

I talked to Piers this morning, along with a couple other folks. The consensus is the head gasket south... .....

pulsing... but not smoke

I relocated my blow by tube a couple weeks ago and noticed my it spewing vapor in a pulsing manor. I had always assumed it dripped not... fired, but never really checked since it always dumped it's mess on the front of my engine where I couldn't see it. It doesn't look like smoke, is this normal?
