"Can't tell you much about the twins right know [I'm under a gag order, several good people are involved] other than they are up & down not side by side so you can retain both batterys & one has to really work at getting the egt's over 1300 @ 65lbs boost

Thats a quote from a recent email from Piers. Guess we will just have to wait. I hate waiting.....

Not having to move a battery to the bed or frame saves a ton of work and aggravation right there.

I'm waiting too... ... .

I think the twin turbo set-up should be made from a pair of turbonetics turbos. They have a wastegate that you can change from in the cab- change the setting for the max amount of boost in the cab. That would be nice to have on a twin turbo setup. Plus they have ceramic bearings and seem to an excellent company. Thay are in the back of the TDR issues.

I guess its time to chime in. I installed the modified HX35 a week ago, and the initial driving impression is as follows:

Conditions: Phoenix-Summer-HOT! Like around 113-116 F

Off the line turbo lag is almost nothing. Spool up is much quicker, and throttle response is very quick. Just driving around town, its nice to have immediate response when boost is low.

EGT's are improved, because now PE HOT #3 doesn't go off the gauge.
Level #1,2 are well under control. Smoke is less under most conditions.

And yes Stefan, 40lb of boost.

I'd highly recommend this turbo for anyone who wants the next step.
Twins are nice, but not everyone will want twins. The modified 35 works great, even in the high heat of the Arizona desert.

Ond of course, look for them on my site, too.

Great job Piers!!!

Fred, what housing are you running? Stock 12cm??

This is great news, something comparable to an HX-40 for mighty BOMBed Cummins, with fast spoolup and can still use an e-brake

Vaughn, yes I am running the 12cm housing. This is good for about 150 degrees, and I'll more than likely try the 14cm housing, too. Nothing like testing in extreme heat.

I'll be heading up to Canada the end of next week to meet up with Bill K. and Piers. Can't wait.

Fred, I must say that sounds very impressive, expecially with the way you ran in the extreme heat. If I add a box to my DD2s I should be in great shape with the stock housing (provided I upgrade my stock exhaust). A 14cm should be even better, but costs a few more bucks. I will calling Piers one of these days soon

I too am awaiting the newest release of the latest trick turbo upgrade from Piers. :D

heh,heh,heh

Pier's twin turbo setup is $3995. oo, :( a little to rich for my blood at this time. But I'm droolling:D

I may be starting some dodo here but I just happend upon this guy looking for a trans for my chevy plow truck. This sounded crazy to me too, but I talked to a guy today who says the twin turbo setup is capable of 120 psi:eek: He showed me a picture of it too. He also showed me a stator that he says he makes for BD. It was milled but was not a cutup stocker. He also claims to have a torque converter capable of withstanding more than 1340 ft lbs of torque:eek: with a milled steel cover. I saw this torque converter in pieces in his shop for display. He also showed me a stock torque cut up and why they dont hold the torque, something about the welds on the bolts warping the inside plate. Not that I know anything about converters.

Hey like I said I was just looking for a place to rebuild my chevy trans. not trying to rain on anybodys parade. But I think I'll go back for some more info. :p

I agree this sounds like a salesmans BS story but he had plenty of stuff around his showroom to make me think that this guy was not totally full of it. and the owner was also there and he was telling me how he had $200,000. 00 worth of research into this stuff and how it would take a long time to recoupe. I havent really heard anything about BD's new torque converter lately, probabbly because they get beat up too bad on this forum, but this guy may be the one who makes it for them? .

I dont know Sh*****t about diesels just thought I'd pass on first hand info. I driven by this place every day for 4 years and didnt expect anything pereformance to be lurking there.
