One thing i have noticed about the Dodge Ram owners that tends to get them into a lot of trouble is they are very trusting.

For your information BD's new converter is actually built by Eagle Machinery out of Abbotsford British Columbia.

Sometimes we get a part of the story , every one in the transmission industry knows that technically the guy in Coldorado is not telling an untruth by claiming he's built for BD , however what he did not tell you was he built 3 promo stators only, why they chose not to go with him i cant comment on.

446 research is good , just be really carefully to weed out the marketing from the truth.

As for the tc clutch being able to handle 1300 + ft lbs of torque, believing those kinds of statements is what guys into trouble

in the first place.

You need to seperate the marketing from reality.

Remember there are companies out there in this industry that claim you can buy power enhancements that dont void your engine warranty , just try collecting on some of this stuff.

As for 120 lbs of boost, yes there are some of them out there,

however you must modify the engine, and these are custom trucks used for promotion and advertising.

I'm glad someone with some inside info stepped in here. When questioned about some of his customers he started dropping names like PDR and BD and some companies in in BC. I didnt say anything about TDR and he had no reason to think I knew anything about these companies.

I announced my findings here because I knew someone here knew who it was and could give some info.

I actually thought he was going to tell me he was selling Suncoast or Dunrite but said he makes his own converters. . Had a pretty nice shop and lots of trucks and customers around.

120psi Boost

Don't forget that the rigs that have 120psi also have a service life of about 250-400' :p And that your bottom-end might be addressing a post card to you :D

Twins would be nice, I need to consult and barter with old saint nick.

Why settle for twins...? :D

Since you greedy horsepower junkies are so lathered for twin turbos, why stop there? I recall sometime back (way back) a racer who was wrasselin' with a turbo/supercharged setup on his dragster. The concept was simple; Supercharger to provide low-end horses, and turbo-boost to come on board after the lights hit green. Heh heh heh, yeah baby...

At the time, he was having a little trouble with a) boost source timing and pressure levels between the two sides of the engine, b) fuel control during the transition period, and c) making sure Mr. Sparky wasn't premature or acting retarded.

Other than those minor issues, and the resulting "It ran like a bat outta hell" or "It fragged", it seemed like a good idea...

Bob

I have had Piers's turbo on for aprox 9,000(hard) miles. I still haven't found a down side as of yet. I also have had the HX-40 on at one time but the test on that came to an abrupt halt when the impeller decided to visit the tail pipe:eek: this happened at 175-200 miles on the turbo. (that is a whole nother story) I have come just short of abusing Piers's turbo (he said to let him know what I thought I love a challenge;) )I have been to the drags done a tug of war, dyno runs and still love it. It spools quicker than the 40 and has more of a drivability feel than the 40. I very regularly see 40psi of boost. I am running more fuel than ever(thanks Piers:D ) and am playing with propane at this time. As far as the limitation I have been seeing posted (up to 350hp) I must argue at Diesel Thunder in spokane My truck with this turbo ran 450HP and 893 ft lbs of torque. At least thats all the tires wanted to allow:D As of this time I have no complaints. Now TWINS do sound like fun;)

REMEMBER:

Until you decide it is time to weld the head to the bolck because the bolts are not strong enough to keep the head from exiting through the hood, you do not have enough fuel or enough boost!!

(True or not, I loved that story!):D

supercharger/turbo

Hey BKeller,

I wish you could hear Dave Mitchell pull. It sounded like blower whine under his hood the other night. I am about positive that that is what it was. I know what a turbo sounds like when it is screaming and I know what a blower sounds like when it is screaming. When Mitchell starts to wind it up on the bottom end, all you hear is blower.

Fred Swanson, have your tried your PDR turbo with the 14cm housing yet? Anyone else out there with a PDR turbo running other than the stock 12cm housing? Just looking for an update and drivability report :)

Vaughn,

I have a PDR turbo and a 14 housing. It works great as far as I can tell. I did go straight from the stock/12 to the PDR/14. So I cannot comment on the difference the 12 to 14 housing alone makes. But the PDR/14 combo is far better that the stock setup. Does as advertised.

14 CM2 turbine housing

That's the turbine housing I'm going with when I get my PDR turbo... heck, it's already installed.:eek::D

How about more info on these nice transmission parts? (I'm already buying my stuff from DTT, but I love to research... )

I'm patiently waiting for more info on the twin-turbo setup as well... ... :D

Matt - head not welded to the block... . YET!
