Any guys in central ohio (or all of ohio) with Suncoast transmissions, willing to let me drive (or ride) to see how there transmission acts. I'll buy ya lunch too :D Just still not sure if my transmission is right, it goes so harsh into lock up. I called Suncoast last week and told them, they said Enterprise would call me Monday which they didnt, so Im sick of bugging both of them for now, asking you guys for help.

I have the Suncoast Comp. It shifts into od like a 1st to 2nd shift. I find it SWEET!!!!

PM CEpp he is in lancaster and has a suncoast kit, Not sure that he will let you drive but for lunch Im sure he will give you a good ride:D

transmission

Yes, Daves shop, Enterprise Engines did it. Not Dave himself though. My 1-2/ 2-3 shifts are great, nice little thump then in gear, then comes 3-4 then lock up, truck shifts then lags for about 5-6 seconds then BOOM lock up. It feels like it squats the back of my truck down it whacks so hard. Ive heard other guys say their Suncoast does the same thing then others say it doesnt do htis not sure who to beleive till I get to ride in some. Dissapointed I spent $3,400. 00 on this and Suncoast tells me to call Enterprise, Enterprise tells me to call Suncoast :{ Suncoast valve body guy told me he is working on a new valve body but the parts are not in to build one. He said could be weeks could be months. Then even if they finally get the valve body its another 2 hour round trip to Enterprise Being without my truck for a day or two then having to schedule it around work whos going to watch my kid, who can drive me down there with the $3 a gallon fuel prices you see my frustration??? :confused: :{ :confused: :{

Smokin Joe,

My new Suncoast trans with billet shafts & 91% converter will be ready tomarrow, my trans was done by Suncoast so after I try her out for a while and I'll let you know how it shifts.

My former ATS trans (before the input shaft grenaded and destroyed my trans) would set my truck down in every gear. When it went into OD at 60 mph it was like being shot from a cannon. Hope this one is as sweet.

Sorry to hear of your situation Smokin'. I haven't ridden in very many trucks with built autos (4 or 5 of them) but I can tell you yours doesn't sound like it's working right. I would think such harsh lockup tendencies would take a toll after awhile.

my vb's go into lock up like a very hard shift. I doubt you see problems from it,unless its really bad. did Dave drive the truck and say it was right? I would imagine its right if so.

EEP took around half dozen trips down to get Dads 99 right. Been ok for 75,000 or so. But the initial 6 weeks and trips drown drove us about crazy.

It doesn't shift like yours. Each shift is firm, even.

Well who knows then... Some guys say theirs shifts like mine som say not, honestly I think its a 50-50 chance you get it right. Yes EEP drove it they said it was normal but Suncoast was unsure, they told me they would have to drive it. Thats convinient for me seeings how on Mapquest they are only 916 miles away from me. Really I almost dont care anymore, also not sure if Ill take anything to EEP or buy more Suncoast products... Oh well their loss.

Smokin Jo

I have sent you a pm.

I will be heading back to Suncoast Monday as my trans still isnt shifting right I am in limp mode with no first gear, and 2nd gear starts unless I kill & restart the truck. I think it needs a resistor in the VB gov circut line.

if they use one and it failed your probably right. it fools the ecm into thinking the pressure is not to high.

BRayls,

I don't quite understand, If they use one and failed.

Do you mean if they use a resistor and it shifts right or what. I hope this whole trans is a sign of what to expect in the future LIMP Mode.

My former trans didn't require a resistor but I know all are different.

I will try the resistor and if it works go with a Voltage regulator from DTT so I can adjust the voltage to the optimum setting.

I spent $3,400. 00 on this and Suncoast

You got a full built Sun Coast for $3400? On mine ( 2G ) the PARTS were over $4k and another $1K for labor ( is what I was quoted there) Mine shifts VERY FIRM as well. Im in Thornville. Ive spoke to / test drove with Brian Mitchell ( EEP) because I wasnt sure and was told that is how they are SUPPOSE to shift and lock up. It "prevents the bands from streatching" and he mentioned some other things i cant remember as well. FWIW I trust Brian he is a good guy as well as a couple of others over there. Ive found out some other interesting info along the way... PM sent.

Just got home from Suncoast and man what a difference, I had to have the valve body swapped out and Ernie tweaked it a little bit and tuned the TV cable, what a difference this thing has come alive again.

It shifts as firm as my previous ATS trans, and if you just putt along it feels rough but when you hammer it you just hang on and the shifts set you back real smooth and your gone. MPG is also up to 17. 5 in 440 miles traveled from 15. 8 at 75 MPH.

JT

Oh Yea, I figure mileage with a pencil not the over head computer, mine says I get 31 mpg any way, I wish. :D
