Thanks, TDR Staff

central ILL

Wow - thanks datablitz! That is fantastic - and worth the drive from M'ville to Caldwell vs. Nelson (less than 4 miles away - and a service writer who thinks diesels have sparkplugs... ) for me.

thanks for letting us know this, CEpp.

Also, www.DOHTDR.com is available [I'm imagining little chocolate donuts at all gatherings... ]. Also, if you all would rather, . ORG is available for all the URL's - as a non-profit org (more paper-work - IDK if clubs can be non-profits... ) it might make more sense if we were to use .org - but that can be discussed at some other time.

Due to other committments (SWMBO has me doing a video project for Union County Chamber) I cannot be at the 26th meeting :(

I still think it's to early to start a chapter or even be thinking about it.

Don't get me wrong a TDR Chapter would be great but it cant be rushed just end up blowing up and falling apart, The idea's are good that people have came up with already but it's just to early

Just my 2cents

i stopped in donatos last night. the romm in the basement is already taken, she said if the party backs out that is in front of us, we can have it. i guess we will have to come up with a date for #5 at the #4 meeting. .

looking forward to meeting u sdockery.

im not trying to rush it a chapter... i just feel that we need to move forward to the next step.

partsman, when do u propose we start a chapter? wait too long and everyone will lose intrest as well.

so i guess your damned if u do, damned if u dont

people have expressed to me there intrest in starting a chapter and willing to help with anything they can do to help. and im sure some people arent interested in helping just hanging out and bs'n, which is fine with me as well.

we are not trying to start a nonprofit org yet, just get our name on the board. the warm weather is for that!

I talked to my dealer today and he gave me 20% off on everything from them for the guys that are showing up for the meets. I will pass out his card at the next meet.

Im not the only one

Not to step on any toes or anger anyone but,,,

I've been contacted from previous attendees of our meets and they have commented that if the meets were not all in lancaster and not every month they would be able to attend regularly

And they agree that its still too soon to start a chapter we need regulars at the meets , currently we have new faces which is great but it would be nice to see some of the same people so we can relate better with there experiences .

Many members are only attending because its the winter months and there is not just much else to do.

Before a chapter is started we need serious people who make a strong attempt to make the meets regularly.

The meets need to be scheduled ahead of time ,, I don't mean a month either .

The Ideal time for the meets is about a week after all TDR mags are received We can bring our copies and discuss topics.

The summer months will have to be planned at local event that members would go to anyway ... . plus this will add recreation for the families and not just a place to go for DAD.

At local truck pulls would be ideal we can cheer on members and still discuss topics from the mag and have the ability to see and enjoy everyones rigs.

The winter meet would be at an eatery of a sort but the rest will be recreational.

After a strong following then a Chapter could be discussed .

Currently it would stumble do to the fact that all attendees would be a officer of the chapter ... thats not good at all.

Please show your support for making this thing work and don't let it get carried away as a game.

There is a lot of responsibility that goes in to a chapter and we are not ready

Thank you to the others that had input on this post.

as a new face....

it isn't all that pretty - but it's the only one I got.

I've posted about and been researching web site URL's because I got the feeling (and I guess I was wrong) that this was something that was moving forward.

That said, I will back off - sorry if I ticked off anyone (I tend to do that - part of the type A teacher personality).

Let me know if/when you need/want my help. See you whenever you meet after Feb. Lancaster, Zanesville, Columbus, pulls - wherever.

Just remember that as a group inviting online community members to meet in the flesh, we've got to always be welcoming to new faces and not become so much of a clique that new people don't feel welcome. Having a "club" or "official purpose" to the meetings might help people feel welcome (even without formally organizing as a club w/ TDR, but as a group of people getting together with a purpose). The suggestion of a discussion of the latest issue of TDR is awesome. So is meeting/cheering at the pulls in the area.

Speaking of pulls - I just heard that the indoor pulls that usually happen late March/Early April at the State Fairgrounds have been scheduled for my backyard (Marysville - Union County Fairgrounds) in May.

Back to reading issue 47, planning for adding gauges, and lurking.....

I agree with Partsman as well. I am not opposed to being chapter later on but as previously stated I think our little gatherings should continue through the summer to get a true prospective on who can/will regularly attend. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" is kind of where i'm coming from because the meeting are bringing new faces everytime and some I think will shy away if they think they will have to "join" our club.

All Good Points given here

And new faces is whats this is about Im pretty sure that partsmans point was that we have had many people show up at the first meet that people were wanting to see and talk to at the next meet and due to the short deadlines they were unable to attend ... . hints the wanting to see past attendees ... . but we wont go anywhere W/O new faces I enjoy meeting new people at the meet as as well as the regulars its not some kind of elite group Ive invited many PSD driver and a few TDi's but they dont seem to be interested. I think FTUTTLE took it out of context Im sure its ment in a good way to keep people coming and still get new members

FTUTTLE we really appriseate your time and interest and people like you and Cepp with the ""DRIVE"" is what will make this work but sometimes you need to slow down a bit and let everyone catch up. DOH!TDR or whatever is not long off we just cant push it ... ... ... ... ... ... . We need to build a exellent foundation before building something great.

Great Lakes chapter is what is local for now For info contact Steve . (the President)

I enjoy these meets and Im really glad others do to

We need a bigger following but we cant push for it it'll just happen and just because someone cannot attend every meet doesnt mean they cannot come just once. the more the maryer

""Speaking of pulls - I just heard that the indoor pulls that usually happen late March/Early April at the State Fairgrounds have been scheduled for my backyard (Marysville - Union County Fairgrounds) in May""

Great this is what kind of thing we should do Pick the date ,,prepare and attend the next date shall be picked also so people will know if they miss this one it may be 3 mths before we have another.

Some members attend from a distance and I know they wish they can go to all our GTG's but they cant when its every mth ... . when the meets are spread out they have a better chance to attend . plus it would be held at events they would likely go to anyway

I can see this being a great thing even better than just meein and eatin ... ..... Which I enjoy also But Like partsman I agree that durring warmer mths the #'s would decline due to busy bugs pulling, racing , and other summer things to keep interest we have to change it up a way that will also make it better.

DM

im a little confused... some tdr members have expressed there interest in a tdr chapter. and so i started to push for it...

why is everyone so scared?

#1 it doesnt cost anything

#2 tdr pays to send flyers to all members within a 50 mile radius informing them of our first official meeting

#3 it is going to boost the particpation if we are know as a chapter not just a hangout.

#4 we have members for example ftuttle, willing to pay for the website domain and probably create it with input from all of u.

but we wont go anywhere W/O new faces I enjoy meeting new people at the meet as as well as the regulars its not some kind of elite group Ive invited many PSD driver and a few TDi's but they dont seem to be interested.

dm, i agree with u, an idea, what about just a website called "ohio diesels" it would have a larger following and the psd's, and vw tdi's may follow? the problem with that is the tdr following is larger than anything we could ever create. so why not use that to our advantage.

there are 2 different ways we can go about it.

too early? i know some of u have talked about becoming a chapter and want it, now we change our mind? were going on our 4th month and successful meeting, just a point.

im not looking to start a war. :( if i came off in the wrong context). just IMO

I was just hoping that the PSD boys would see the light :>

And There is A big enough CTD following to be elite. Your Right

Cepp maybe you should request a copy of the chapter Bylaws from TDR you will see that parlimentary procedure plays a key rule in being a chapter Its no longer just BS'in It gets serious and at this point many of us dont want that obviously your not sure whats all required or thats what you want ... . to make this fun thing become work. Even being a chapter you will still have fun but a lot responsibillity gets added to it .

Its not something to do just so people can add DOH CHAPTER PREZ to there sig .

Ive been caught up in the same thing as you I had a DTR chapter and charter for about an hour and I realized I may have rushed in to this ... ... . ABout the same time DTR and I had our little fall out

I read all the bylaws And its like a book. I could only imagine what TDR's would look like

I like what were doing now but its not going to last ... its fun because its new

Venturing out to events and things is what will keep it growing. IMO

Im with you some what but I see that your about to make the same mistake I did. And Rush in to something

4 meets sucessful Great and I hope for many more But just because some people show up to the meets dont mean ..... Well were ready for a chapter.

Im here for the long haul And to anyone who expressed there self on this thread in a positive or negative way you have to know that they care or they would just be silent.

I joined TDR a year ago when I got my CTD for the magazine, and occasionally surfed (and lurked) the site.

Due to changes in life etc, I wondered if there were other enthusiasts like myself (and I don't hardly compare vs. some of you guys! I just love my truck, and haven't really done anything to it! yet. ) and came online to find other Central Ohio diesel enthusiasts. I don't _have_ to have a club to be a part of a group. Knowing that there are going to be people getting together to BS and compare notes and attendance isn't manditory, is a good thing for all of us. Having parlimentary procedure rule scare the crap outta me. Having a web site for dates, photos, etc is easy (and we don't even have to have our own url - I've already got lots of space). I don't want or need a title.

Neighbors have a 2 wheel drive pulling truck, so we go to pulls in the summer w/ them, and always stay to watch the diesels (my boys love the smoke and sound the diesels make :) ).

I don't think anyone is trying to purposely annoy or make anyone mad.

DM - you hit the nail on the head. I think we are all in for the long haul (full pull?).

Speaking of pulls - COATPA has posted the info for their May 28 & 29 pull (memorial day weekend). Check it out at:

http://www.coatpa.com/

I live a hop, skip, and a couple jumps from the M'ville fairgrounds. Bar-B-Que, anyone? (but watch out - I may have all the materials by that point for my pole barn/CTD garage, so you may be put to work :D ). Plenty of space to camp or hang out.

in for the long haul as well.

i looked at the chapter guidelines and it said to set some chapter by-laws, now i dont know if tdr has a separate set of by-laws or not. but if its going to be a parlimentary procedure then i understand why we dont want to do it. (i was unaware of that) i figured it would be something to just make us official) i just want it to be a good atmosphere, that people can have fun and arent pressured when new faces come in.

can someone host the flyer? its done...

Thanks to all that input with this Onward and Upward.

Frank, that sounds great for the pull and if you need help that's cool too keep let me know what's going on with I can bring some nail guns and screw guns to help out

Chris, I should be able to host some stuff soon I have quite abit of room just havent messed with it yet.

DM, Frank put it the best FULL PULL
