Dropped my dually off at the local dealer today to have them check a couple of minor items. One was a rather generic inquiry into "what about the smell that comes through the vents for the first 1,000 miles or so after an oil change?"..... The service advisor told me that as of about 3 weeks ago, there is an oil additive available at their parts counter that suppresses that smell. I could go buy some... ...

As I was leaving my truck in their hands, I just mentioned that a 'fix' would be better, and left.

Anybody heard of this 'new' additive ?... Probably 4 oz for $15 or so, eh ?... I can hardly wait.

By the way, when I get the truck back, I will reinstall my 6' piece of hose that directs it back behind the cab. It works very well, but Dodge should fix it in their design...

Why not have them fix it so the HVAC intake air comes in where it is suppose to by the wipers outside the cab?

When the HVAC system sucks in engine compartment air it will also pull in odors from the engine vent tube. Worse yet if you have an exhaust leak or the person you are stuck behind in traffic has a poorly tuned gas engine carbon monoxide poisoning is unhealthy.

You can download a copy of the fix here: http://www.rounsevell.com/blowby.pdf

print it and give it to your dealer.

Sheeesh ... Just what we need for our macho trucks ... floral smelling oil ... and all this to fix something a 6 digit salaried engineer can't :--)

Wonder if you can get Vanilla scented ?? :-laf
