I don't want to start a war here but who do you use for engine oil analysis?

When you get the results what are the things you look for? What do you use as a baseline to compare to?

Thanks for any information.

oil analysis

Mike, I have used the local Cat dealer and always use new oil for my baseline. Also, you can get some guidelines from them for contaminant levels. Hope this helps.

I personally have been using Blackstone Labs since my previous diesel pickup (Ford F250). They charge $17 per sample, plus an extra $10 if you also want a TBN number.

Amsoil charges I believe in the neighborhood of $17 a sample, but I am told they include the TBN number for no additional charge. Since I do not go extremely extended drain intervals, I am not too concerned with TBN numbers myself.
