Ist of all I love this site!! But I always here of AIMS Oil, I'm familiar with the oil but has anyone ever heard of Shaffer's oil. It has alot of the same things as Ams oil. Me and my dad have been using Shaffer's for over ten years. At 80k miles on a cheby cavaliar 4 banger I had to replace a head gasket. To my and my mechanics surpries you could still see the hone marks in the cylinder walls, there were no mesurable wear there after 80k #ad
. I'm a believer in Shaffer's, has anyone had the same experience with ams oil? Can anyone convince me to switch?
P. S. look over my spelling, as my wife would say I'm a man. Shaffer's is used in the industrial industry and has been around since the 1800's. Thanks all!

I'm only aware of MOLLY being in Amsoil's hevy duty grease, none in the oils to my knowledge. Maybe one of the Amsoil guru's out there can verify this.

Kimrey, Try a 1990 trooper with 210,000mi replaced the head gaskit at a university mech shop. still like new hone marks in cyl. walls, now has 300,000 with out even a valve job. AMSOIL since 20,000mi. I had a 1986 VW jetta used for on the road sales,410,000 mi on original engine before my highschool son wrecked it! AMSOIL since about50,000mi!

Go to Amsoils web site and you can read all about it. The prices you see are retail, become a dealer and you get it cheaper.

Any well maintained vehicle can do that with any oil in it. My 91 toyota pickup had 176K with cross hone marks and has had nothing but good ole valvoline run it. My dads 89 dodge daytona 165K with little to no wear anywhere(motor was pulled down due to head gasket failure) and thats a turbo car. Bottome line is. No matter what oil, if you keep it changed it will last a long time.
