I have a friend that has not yet joined the TDR

(although he has joined the local chapter). He asked me to post a question for him. I think that when he sees how helpful the members are, he'll send in his dues immediately. Thanks,
I have a 1997 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins engine. I was having problems with the vacuum that controls the ventilation controls. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a defective check valve at the vacuum pump. They said that the check valve was letting oil leak into the vacuum line which caused a clog in the line. The vacuum pump is driven with a shaft from the power steering pump and has a seal in it which should prevent engine oil from getting through into the pump. Is it normal for this seal to let a small amount of oil leak past it? Has anyone else experienced a similar
problem?
