It is smoking (blue) after a grid heater start. Goes away once warm, is running fine - no smoke other than the occasional, normal black.

I have myself talked into thinking it is the seals on the HT3B; that when they're cold, they leak. It never did this without the twins, and this is the first winter on the twins.

Plausible?

no opinions... oh well.

I've also come up with the idea that there is an oil buildup on the grid heater itself which gets burnt off when the heater comes on.

sounds good to me did you take the down pipe loose to see if there are any drips in it?

I have a oil smoke at startup problem I think mine is from a bad valve seal though. When I was green I accidentally put one of the bridges on backwards and as they are biased I think this might have worn the valve seals on that set of valves.
