Looks great Wayne - but I am more interested in the swivel fitting used in the return line at the oil fill cap - what do those sell for? I use a similar arrangement on my Frantz bypass, but have no local supplier for fittings like that...

Gary,

This is the fitting. It is available from Amsoil Inc. STK# BP-89.

Big Balls , asking an Amsoil dealer for his fittings so you can sell a brand X unit... . never ceases to amaze me LOL

oh I forgot I'm not PC. .

Dumb Question

What's the stock number for the bypass filter setup itself? All I could locate was the dual system for the full-flow and bypass combined... I'd rather keep the stock oil filter location.

The stock # is BMK-11. This will give you the "single" mount, all the hose fittings, 8-ft. of hose, and various brass fittings.

The stock #'s for the filter elements are: BE-90 BE-100 and

BE-110. The BE-100 is the one preffered for CTD oil capacity.

Filter Set Up

I'd like to know what the cost is of the complete Kit and is it available. About how long does it take to install it. If the regular oil changes are around 15 ooo miles about how long will this kit extend it? Thanks

Another dumb question

Sounds like exactly what I want. Is there a port (that's normally plugged) on the existing oil filter mount where the hose for the bypass can attach (so that no oil filter adaptor is required)?

Rbattelle,

This is where the system gets the oil from. There is an existing tapped 1/8 NPT port on the top of the OEM filter base with a plug in it. Just remove the plug and install a fitting from the kit. This tapped port exists on all the CTD engines.

Radardoctor,

If you do periodic oil analysis, the oil will last indefinately, and in my mind, you should analyze the oil whenever you extend oil changes.

Dual By-pass

Wayne, is there room for a dual by-pass where you installed the single?

I have a dual on our '99 and it is great! Please comment on single vs dual by-pass on a 2003 CTD. We will be ordering soon.

Thanks, Richard

Richard,

I have not looked at that possibility. I will try to determine if there is enough room where I mounted the single unit and let you know.

oil bypass

please answer cost and etc i liked what you said , also Vettec is ordering a 2003 soon and wants some data, I also will be ordering in june so i could use the installation data and costs ,thanks radar doc

I haven't seen under the hood of the '03's - but here's how I did my Frantz bypass - perhaps it is adaptable...

This is the bracket attached to some 3/8 stainless tubing - the battery hold-down bolt passes thru the tubing to hold the bracket.

Here's that bracket attached to the battery case.

Here's the filter attached.

AND, the finished install.

I used the port on top of the stock filter housing for the supply line, and the return line can be seen leading to the oil fill cap - hope this helps...

It provides a secondary, low-volume path for oil filtering down to much smaller particle sizes than the full-flow filter does - oil analysis typically shows a roughly 80-90% reduction in oil contamination with the use of a good bypass filter - especially important for those using extended oil change intervals.
