Well just changed oil for first time on my turbo diesel. What a pain in the A. . Could that GOSH DANG filter have been on any tighter??? :mad: :mad: :mad: I was Peed off. Truck is brand new, I've heard they like to tighten them at factory. AARRGG How tight should I make it ? Also foctory oil kinda greenish in color???? Normal???? Believe it or not this is'nt my first time:D

I hand tighten my filters, (both hands, hand tight) I'm sure I'll get beat-up for this, but I've never had any problems doing so. If you must use a mechanical filter tighener, hand tighten, then 1/4 turn with the mechanical tightener. :D

Greenish oil, eh? I don't remember my oil ever being greenish, 'cept when my headgasket went south. :{

Had the dealer do the first one :D I had a feeling it would be tough. Got a bunch of coupons when I bought the truck. I provided a New Straphore oil filter and had it changed at 1,000 miles.

I do the same but with one hand, Rob's a wuss!:p But then again his finger are probably frozen by now!:D 16 years of trouble free oil change, works for me.

I tighten 1/2 turn after gasket contact with my hands, and the only thing I ever need to get the filter off is a pair of leather gloves. You are not the only one Rob.

My oil is green at every oil change, a tiny amount of greenish tint anyway. I don't worry about it as the analysis came back clean when I first noticed it, and to be green from coolant there would have to be a TON of coolant in the oil.

Nope, it's like 60* here again today, dang-it. :(

How tight is tight enough????

I put an indexing mark on the filter head and then use a black marker on the filter (that lines up with the previous mark) each time I change. After that, every time I have the hood up, I can glance at the filter to see if it has moved.

I use the "two hands tight" method. Never had a problem.
