Maybe he meant the fuel filter canister, I know they are to be wiped out when installing a new filter.

Stea... dealers love to charge on this one. Look down between the radiator and the engine on the drivers side of the fan. You will see a hose coming out of the engine about 1" in diameter. At the end of the hose there will be a "Pill bottle" about 4" tall and 2" in diameter. There will be a band clamp around the bottle and connected to the engine. Just loosen that bolt/nut (can't remember which) and pull the bottle free. Unscrew the cap with the hose, and pull the bottle free. Use some carb cleaner over a container for the drippings, and an old rag to wipe it off. Installation is the reverse of removal. Go back in your house and write yourself a check for $45. 00.

You are going to have oil mist on your engine irregardless of the bottle being empty or not. There are several solutions to this ranging from an old sock around the bottle to complete removal. I'm sure some others will chime in.

the egine vent drips a little oil into a bottle (canister) on the front of the engine. The bottle has tobe removed and drained at each oil change.

hey btw what part of LI.

I'm in Huntington

That's included in the regular $32 cost of a oil and filter change with my Dealer. Find another Dealer.

It is too easy to pay someone to do it.

Got a good dealer that does a good job for a reasonable price. Plus I don't have to worry about going through what White Knights dad went through :(

Fair enough. I have yet to take any vehicle (truck, car, or bike) to a shop and not have them f*** something up. The last instance was when a stea... dealership was supposed to install the bed liner. Instead of unhooking the pigtail for the tailgate running lights, they just pulled the slack, and cut the wires, then just shoved the tail back inside the tailgate when they were done:mad:

I give everyone at least one chance. Then I give them one chance to make it right.

Sticks ask my wife there is just as good of a chance that I would screw up the oil change as the dealer :-laf With the dealer there at least might be some recourse. ;)
