This subject has been in very heated threads before. Many do. Some are strongly opposed to burning it. I do and have since I have owned my trucks. My 01 has 105k on it my 97 has 237k on it (I bought it at 146k) I see only benefits burning it. Added lube. Easy disposal. Right from the drain pan to the fuel tank. But I am extreme too I have run alot of WVO in my 97. As high as 100%. I ran 100% for many months straight. I haven't ran WVO in my 01 but only because it was down with a bad trans while I had a good supply of WVO. I am in need of a good restaurant now. Anyone have on in southern cal that need oil hauled????



I have ran as high as 50% drain oil in my tank. exhaust stinks but that is the only problem I have seen. WVO smell good BTW.

I use 7500miles as the basic oil replacement miles if I don't do any towing. If I tow I keep track of the actual towing miles, then double it, and add this to the miles not towing to come up with an equivalent mileage not to exceed 7500miles.

Example: nontow miles 2500miles

tow miles 2500x2 5000miles

equivalent miles 7500miles

actual odom miles 5000miles

If I tow all the time I would be changing oil every 3750 miles.

I use delo 400 and fleetguard stratopore filters.

I know that everyone has a schedule of how often they change oil and why. The question in this thread is about changing too often. I haven't heard that it might be harmful to do that, but I would like to know if anyone knows for sure. Opinions I have plenty of my own.

This is interesting. The price of diesel is not that bad here, and my truck gets good mileage, but by your thinking it will actually benefit the longevity of the CTD.

Don't know about damage if too frequent. New engine, I changed at 3,000 first change, 5,000 the second. Same for third, cept switched to AmsOil. Will sample every 5,000 and see what I see. I run 2. 5 to 3k a week, loaded 75% of the time. How you guys filtering your WVO? I worked in restaurants during high school, seems alot of crap in the deep fryer.

Remember that dogging a vehicle around town can be as abusive as running the snot out of it. I run a lot of lightly loaded highway miles with some heavy loads and an occasional outing in EXTREEM dust. I change about every 5000 miles on the old '92 and about every 6000 on the '01. 5. I might stretch that a little if conditions have been good or drop it a little if the oil has had a hard life.

No, have not noticed any need to change the fuel filter yet. Pressure is still 18 psi post filter.



I use a small electric inline pump to pull oil from the oil drain pan through a Ford fuel filter meant for fuel injected engines. Some of those filters are good down to 10 microns.



Then you just dump it in your fuel tank. Highest mixture I have ever run is 50% diesel to 50% waste oil.



Performance change, if any, seems to be a tad bit more power??



If you just do it for your own waste oil, you get a couple more miles down the road for "free" and don't have to make a trip to get rid of the waste oil.

I used to change it every 3k miles until I had it sampled by Blackstone. I went out to 7-8k at 1000k intervals at their recommendation.

139k miles on truck and samples still perfect.

Oil analysis is relatively cheap and is backed by hard science. If you're not using it or never established a baseline interval by analysis you're just guessing. Also, you get to see how the internals are fairing before a problem could become serious.



Don't know about changing too often but to me, analysis is a good thing.

I prefer the KISS method. "Keep It Simple Stupid" Change oil (Delo 400), and filter (stratapore), every 5k and fuel filter every 10k. Easy to remember 5k-10k-15k-etc. Also works great with using Geno's filter package. Had oil checked twice no problems. Daily driver. I do all kinds of driving not to much heavy towing though.

I likewise have run as high as a 50/50 ratio of WMO to diesel. No filter problems ever noted. Truck is running like a dream. I believe in not wasting the oil by dumping it. It as noted previously here, improves the lubricity of the fuel.



WO from gas vehicles:

. I like to let it set for several days in the hot sun to let any solids go to the bottom. Then pump it thru a fine filter and into my tank.

. Just poured in 20 gallons of gasser WO today on top of the 40 gallons of diesel fuel in my tanks.

I used to change oil and filter every 3500 miles, then I started to get the oil analyzed by Blackstone Labs, and at their suggestion, I gradually increased the miles until I am now at 7500 and they like this frequency. I will be glad to send their last report if you wish.

My truck is driven 95% light duty, and 40 mile runs minimum.

I've been doing it every 3K-4K miles, but now that I'm over 100K miles I'm probably going to go to 5K miles.
