I know this is an old topic BUT, what is everyone using for oil change intervals using Dino oil. Delo 15 40.

I did the first change at 3500 and setting on 9100 now and the oil looks like it has only been in for 1000 miles or less.

I'm used too the black oil from my 95.

No heavy hauling and a trip to town is 18 Highway miles one way.

The manual leaves one confused.

If memory serves me right, I think it's 15K regular service and 7. 5K for severe service.

I personally do mine every 5K and rotate tires, too... ... it's just easier to keep up with it that way. I may re-evaluate my oil change intervals at my 15,000 oil change... . just depends how dirty it looks at that time. I'm at 12,750 or so and it still looks good. On average, I accumulate about 140 to 155 hours per oil change, too.

I change mine with Shell Rotella at 7500 miles. It does look clean when I change it. I've thought about going to 10,000 but to keep the warranty holders happy, I'll stick to 7500.

I have been running on 15,000 changes, and am thinking of extending to 20,000 this time. I am heavy-hauling, and I run Mobil Delvac 15-W40.

I do an oil analysis (at Speedco) at each interval, and am showing no signs of wear from either the engine or the oil. I do accumulate a good deal of idle time, since I sleep in the truck about 3 nights a week.

Just my observations...

Yep, me too. Every 5,000 miles for the engine oil and filter (Delo 400 15-40 and Fleetguard), fuel filter (also Fleetguard) and rotate tires every other oil change. The easy to calculate 5,000 mile interval has worked fine for the previous 3 CTDs I've owned too. My trucks aren't daily drivers... they either haul and/or tow.

Ditto, except I do the fuel filter at 10,000 with the tires. I also grease any fittings every oil change using Mobil1 synthetic grease.

I do mine at 3000 as I have the FREE oil/filter/lube at Lithia. Actually, it was $299 but it is a lifetime deal. That was the only advantage to buying local as the dealer so far hasnt been worth a crap. No support whatsoever!
