I've been changing mine every 3500 or so, my local cummins dealer suggested I stretch that out to 6k... I think that's what the beek says, but that stuff is soooo black coming out. Whadda you guys do? I'm running dino oil, so I don't want to stretch it out too long. Thanks, Alan

i usually try to keep my interval at between 4,000 to 5,000... maybe more during the winter. Or if i'm feeling energetic, whenever the oil starts to turn color

I run my trucks pretty hard so I change my oil about every 2500 to be safe. I use wix filters and Coastal Fleet oil with the new Mack truck rating.

When I towed this past summer, I went 3500, now am going 4000-5000. I use Rotella or Delo (whichever Wal Mart shas 3 gallons of), and Fleetguard LF3552 Microglass Filter. Still not black at 5000, but why take a chance? I figure I am getting a good use of my oil, yet still have room for error, for when I cant pay for it, or forget.

I've got 130,000 on mine and have changed the oil every 6000 miles using Amsiol 15W40 Marine Synthetic backed by an oil analysis at each change. I have never had to add even 1 qt between changes or had an analysis that was not OK to continue using. I use Fleetgard microglass filters.

Yup! I change mine about 5000 km or so, which usally ends up being about every 6 months. I use Castrol 15-40 with a couple cans of moly slip additive and a WIX filter. FYI>> According to the Cummins manual they recommend changes at 6,000 miles (10,000 km) or 6 months unless you drive more than 8,000 miles per month then your change should be at 10,000 miles (17,000 km) or 3 months which ever comes first. Don't forget to change out your fuel filter every other oil change too (also recommended by Cummins). Happy oil changin!!

If I changed mine when it changed color, it'd be every 2500. I'm the second owner, 60k on the truck, bought it with 45k on it...

I go with every 6,000 miles. Usually change it 3-4 times per year.

I dunno WHAT you guys do in order to be able to say your oil stays clear/clean with several thousand miles on it... MINE is already pretty dark by 1000 miles or so, and REALLY black at 3000 miles - and *I* use a bypass filter that seems pretty effective according to oil analysis...

Wonder what the secret is?

Every 3 for me! Oil is cheap. Use Mobil Delvac 1300. 280,000 miles no oil use.
