Oil change intervals!!!!!!!!!!

I got in my truck after lettin it sit for 2 weeks after my Wyoming Elk trip. It says Change oil please, so I go get oil and change it after work tonight... got 7600 miles between changes. I have no complaints, have never seen a CEL, with 48,900 miles on the clock. Its just a pig on fuel mileage!!!

Your lucky. My 2012 never would get past 2100 miles before it would scream CHANGE MY OIL! I cashed it in for a 2013 and LOVE IT Mpg's are a full 5 to6 mpg better than the 12 ever could give and it has yet to ask for an oil change at 5689 miles it says I have 80% oil life left. RAM got it right with this truck!

I am just curious as to what kind of mileage you were getting with your '12. I know I was only getting at the best 16 with the '11 SRW 3500 i had.

In my 2012 2500 4WD CC, I get 18 mpg to 19 mpg empty on the highway at the speed limit (between 65 mph and 70 mph). Towing my travel trailer I get 11. 5 mpg to 12. 0 mpg depending on whether I am going over 68 mph or not. I try to stay between 65 mph and 68 mph towing the trailer.



I only use the truck on the highway, mostly when towing, so not sure what running around town would be - not very good I assume.



Fuel economy goes down very quickly with each 5 mph over 70 mph.



I have not gotten an early change oil messages - have changed before the 7,500 mile requirement, however.

I was getting 12-13 around town mostly back roads average speed 45. best it ever gave was 18. 5 all highway going to the Cummins factory this past June. That said I just did a trip with my new 2013 towing an empty boat trailer I got 20-21 and with the boat 22' very full of water ( it's a salvage job) 15-16 RAM has got it right with these new trucks!

Wow! 21 is pretty good. What gears do you have? 3. 73 or 4. 10?
