I had the oil changed at the dealer yesterday as it was a good price. I asked for a data sheet on the oil, since the big test done in TDR, I wanted to see what the specs were.

Here is the question... WHO makes it? Equal to what?

here is the specs... SEA 15W-40 HD+ Mopar MaxPro

In the circle:

API SERVICE CI-4, CH-4/SL, CI-4 PLUS

Reccommended for use in applications without DPF, and requiring the following: API Service CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF/SL, SJ then it lists makes of engines.

What does DPF mean?

Comparing the spec in the cicle label to the TDR oils it falls right in the BEST category on page 59 TDR 57... I know that doesn't mean that it performs or tests out in the best, but there is hope.

Anyone got more info? The reason I ask all this is I am taking a two month trip across the USA and want to get a feel for when to change it if it isn't great oil. Yes I follow the manual for period of change, maybe even a little more then manual... I'd just like to use a great oil not a OK oil. I know it can be like pizza and sex... some is just better. :D

Have a good day and great weekend. PJ

IIRC, the oils they looked at were CJ-4, not CI-4+.

Knowing what I know now, I would not hesitate to run most quality name-brand oils to 10k. I run CJ-4 oils to 10k without issue, and UOAs that show oil is suitable for continued use...

According to the diagram on page 59 of TDR 57 the CJ-4 did the worst... did I miss something?

BUT the bottom line is MaxPro from DC good like the chart indicates the Cummins/Valvoline Blue is? My last change was Delo400LE... I guess I will not do that again according to the chart, which is a CJ-4 and in last place. . HO HUMM!
