I take care of four other diesels for friends of mine when it comes to basic maintenance. Two of these pick-ups are Dodges and both are 2005's. I drain the oil and do other maintenance while it is draining. I pull the filter down and replace the filter (Full of clean oil) before replacing the drain plug. I then fill the oil, start the trucks, check for any oil leaks, shut it down, wait five minutes, and finally do a dipstick read before sending them out the door. On both these 2005's, the oil on the dipstick will be as black as the oil I just drained. I've checked the dipstick numerous times on these trucks and the oil is always black. My 2003 right now after 1300 miles since last change is still very yellow. I use Fleetguard Stratapore filters on both these trucks plus mine. The only difference is my oil is Mobil Delvac 1 and they both use Rotella T. I have 31,000 and they both have in the area of 10 to 12,000 miles. Any thoughts on this??? I also use an AFE Proguard 7 filter in the stock box where they are still using factory paper. I'm a little baffled and don't know what to tell them when they ask the question as to why their oil already looks dirty. Shoot me your thoughts and/or experiences. Thanks in advance.
