Hey BFC..... Just changed mine the other day. Guess I just happened to stumble on to doing it that way. It worked just as you say. That's the way from now on. By the way, same oil, same filter as you also.
 
I agree with the idea that hand tight is probably a little risky. I like to tighten the filter 3/4 to 1 turn after contact. If you have never had a filter leak you would be amazed at how much oil will dump out and how quickly. I have a filter wrench that uses a small chain instead of a strap and it works great other than being a little difficult to pass around the back of the filter next to the block. Sorry guys but I can't remember where I bought the wrench. Just my 2 cents worth. LOL
 
Hey guys,channel locks work,also tap the top with chisel, and for draining the oil pan, you guys have to get the finger touch lever drain plug from Geno's it is tooo coool , no tools no more striped threads and no more dropping plug in the mess. Oh by the way Dello 400 is the best Joe Moglia
