I would get the Finger touch drain valve from Geno's, but before you install it drill two or three holes through the side at the base. This will allow the oil to drain completely. The threads stick up in the pan too far.

The EZ drain leaves about a quart and you can't modify it.

If you like the tube, Cummins sells the finger touch with a fitting on the bottom for a hose.

Can I use Mobil 1? What is te spec? I run other diesel in my equipment ( Lulls). John Deere 15/40 Rotell or John Deere

I'm betting you already know this cuz you have other diesels, but in case you don't. Be sure to preload your new filter with oil before you install it. That baby has a large capacity and I would hate to thing of the Cummins running while it was waiting for the filter to fill up.



Oh yeah, I use Rotella 15/40. I like Mobil 1 and use it in all my other vehicles, but I wouldn't go with synthetic for atlease 10 to 15 thousand miles. And Mobil 1 doesen't have 15/40 I think.

Mobil 1 is not CH-4 rated so do not use it in your Cummins. Mobil makes a CH-4 rated synthetic they call Delvac 1. It is 5w40 weight oil and around here it runs ~$21. 00/gallon.

Walmart sells it's own brand of industrial diesel oil. It's about $9. 00 for TWO gallon container. It has API CH4 plus many more. Says it meets the requirements of Cummins, Detroit, CAT, Mack, etc. It is probably DELO or Rotella repackaged as Walmart brand.



My local transmission guy swears by the Walmart Brand transmission fluid. It is sold in gallon or two gallon containers. He says it holds up better than some brands and doesn't turn brown.

I believe you, but the company I work for has all peterbuilt trucks with Cat road and deck engines ( except for the old units with are IH with detroit engines) from the 3176 to the 3512. Each one has a sticker that says factory filled with Delo. If they make there own oil why do they use another brand? doesn't make since.

I think you should have the dealer loosen it for you like someone else said. Mine was welded on, it was ridiculous how tight it came from the factory, same story from two of my friends as well. We had the filter wrench on it it I had almost given up, when we got a micro turn on it, then it seemed as though it was glued still tight as... ... ... ... ... . anyhow I want you to enjoy your Christmas eve sounds like the ultimate gift, have fun, and enjoy.

Come to think about it, I have seen the Delo stickers on CAT powered trucks. Hmmm... What is even more odd to me is that their DEO is made by Mobil and they run Chevron as factory fill in their OTR motors????

Well oil will change in the next week or two thanks for the tips. Went for 250 mile trip and got 17 mpg highway. Oil pressure guage said 0 but I guess it was a bad sender but it seems fine now. I went for a bed liner, mud flaps, rail cap, sill plates, and door moulding. Just need to find steps I like. Thanks!

I order he drain plug with the tube that screws on to drain the oil. I purchased Valvoline 15/40 and some filter @ 9. ?? each from the dealer. He said they change the oil for 48. 00 bucks which seemed cheap but he didn't know what type of oil they use. I bought 8 gallons of oil for 63 bucks. I guess it's the fun of doing yourself.
