First oil change on new 2015 ram cummins. On my 06 I replaced the oil filter from the top. How are you replacing the filter? Tried the search no luck. Thanks for the help.

I have been looking at mine and may go in from the side. Looks like I can turn the wheels to the right and get to it that way.

Follow gsbrockman link, You can loosen it form the wheel well then remove the intake plumbing and lift the filter out form the engine bay, By the time you clean up all the mess pulling it form thru the wheel well you will use 2 cans of brake cleaner invent a new $#%&* word pattern.

Let truck sit for 1 hour. Loosen filter through wheel well, slip up a 1 gallon Ziplock freezer bag, unscrew filter , lock bag, pull filter through well opening. clean filter mounting boss and area, place new filter through opening and let sit at angle. Fill to within 1 inch of top using turkey baster or similar, lift filter up and screw in position. Crankcase drain into a cut down 5 gal bucket.
Refill and done. Is even easier with wheel removed for tire rotation. And I'm 63.

This very sound advice. I follow some of the other ideas and found them to be more trouble than helpful. I took some of the intake off but not enough so the filter wouldn't slip by the rest of it. I wasn't going to go further down. I finally went in through the wheel well. I used a filter socket that fits on the bottom of the filter. I found that on the filter that the dealer installed it fit very tightly, so I put it on first and then put the ratchet on next. The socket fit very loosely on the replacement so I put the socket on the ratchet first and slid it under the filter. I didn't bother with the platic bag as there isn';t a lot of room in there. The oil wasn't very hot so I just stuck my finger in the hole and jerked it out quickly with very little spillage. I only filled the filter part way before pushing it through the opening and installing. I had oil pressure instantly. The oil filter change was not anywhere near the hastle people are making it out to be. Try an XR7 V6 Suzuki if you want to see a hastle.

You got a plastic bag on this.......With no spillage...

I "ASSUMED" 2015 same as 2014 for oil filter location and orientation. Your picture shows what appears to be a filter mounted horizontally (mine is mounted vertically).
Curious as to what vehicle the picture is from.

2013 Ram 3500..........the 3500 in 2013 have the same frame ,DL, suspensions, steering and engine to 2015 3500s... 2013 2500s had same frame, DL ,Suspension Steering form 2003-2013 2500/3500, in 2014 the 2500s have different DL and suspension, both 2500s & 3500s form 2014 up have same steering 3 link axle (front)

You would tear up the bag with the filter pictured, as you can see its tight, My 2014 3500 (early build) is the same, I wonder if Ram change plumbing in that area, for easier access.

The picture denotes the orientation the filter is required to be in AFTER it's removed from the filter base........for those that opt to remove it from the wheel well. How a zip-loc bag survives that is beyond me......but more power to the folks that choose to do it that way. ;)

DUH - OH ! I see it's the filter base and not the filter mount in your picture - senior moment. Looks like the trucks are similar and yes, the bag worked great. I did however comment to myself (many times) about the person that decided to put the vertical tubing in the middle of the opening.
