Well stupid me..... I thought Cummins warrantee was 100k with no time table (above and beyond the Dodge 7/70K) but I guess it would not matter anyway according to the oil usage table as posted above.
Check your warranty booklet. My 05 warranty booklet says "Cummins Diesel Engine Components Limited Warranty" is for 7 years or 100K. After year 5 a $100 deductible applies. But like you said even if you're still in the 7 year window it is likely that it would not be covered anyway.

I have 137,000 on my baby and I do use some oil, but never enough to add a quart between 5,000K oil changes. I do annual oil analysis through Blackstone Labs. , which I recommend to everyone.

I am using Fleetgaurd filters and have the factory air box with not mods to the engine at all. I will have an oil analysis and pay extra attention to when I check the oil per Ryan's post.

If I truly am having a problem does anyone have any feedback on Cummins warrantees regarding this issue?

Cummins will tell you that is normal.

My signature truck might be down 1/4-1/2 a quart when I do a filter change at 8-9000 miles using Amsoil Series 3000 5/30. Same story when it's changed at about 18K miles.

My 04 has 130,000 miles now,30 are mine the rest prev. owner he used 15-40 Co-op DMO, I use 0-40 CO-OP DMO all the time towing or what ever uses nothing to speak of change at 8000 miles Laurie

Since new (bought in Nov 05) sig truck, currently with 63,000. I've done the Amsoil one year / 25,000 mi oil change, at the most I've only added about 1 qrt. And I'm fortunate enough to have a couple of street legal ,:D, 4x4 Yodas to keep the miles off of her. I'll be lucky to put 2,000 mi on her this oil change and have not had to add any oil yet.

I have 25000 on the present oil with about 6000 pulling 43' toy hauler and have only added little over a pint not counting what was pulled and replaced for samples.

Call me old fashion, but not draining the oil just scares the crap out of me. To me it just doesn't make any sense! I have been running Mopar oil, which from what I am told is Shell Rotella. I don't use a quart oil between changes, and my oil sample reports are below average in wear. But to each his own.

When I switched to Amsoil I put 5000 on oil, pulled sample and changed oil, next change went to 7500, pulled sample, changed and installed Amsoil's BMK-25 by pass filter system, at 7500 miles pulled first sample and it was better than the first two separate or averaged. Have been pulling samples since then per Blackstone Lab's recommendations. All samples have come back good. Just now starting to see slight increase in iron.

I have asked Blackstone if there is any one oil that stands out from all the rest? My answer is; not really, they are all good. Some just are little better then others. They told me that most of people that work there use Wal-Mart Oil, because it is good, and the least expensive. In some cases it out performs some of the brand name oils. :)

I change my drivetrain oil myself (Amsoil) but for whatever reason, I have the dealer service the engine, . . . . until recently.

I have over 200k without any leaks, anywhere. For the last two oil changes, I started to lose almost two quarts in between my 5K intervals. I don't know if the dealer switched oil's but was told they use CJ-4 for everything.

So I made the switch to Amsoil AME 15w40. I have almost 5K on the AME and I haven't lost any oil yet. I'm guesing the dealer quit using CI-4 and soley uses CJ-4 for everything.

I have had my oil changed by at least 7 different Dodge/Ram dealers over the past 8 years, all over the country. And I assume that the oil is all about the same. I am always told it is Mopar approved oil. At 137,000 I am still about 1/2 quarts or less between oil changes, and as I mentioned earlier the sample reports from Blackstone are always better then average. In fact I just send in oil sample this week for testing. I will let you know the out come.

From what I know, pre-07. 5 Cummins have a tendency to burn off the CJ-4 oil that is approved from 07. 5 and newer trucks.

The CJ-4 is approved for pre-07. 5 but I'm not convinced that it works well for them. I've never done an oil analyisist so I have nothing but an opinion and the fact that I started losing oil in between changes.

I'm just guessing that the dealers didn't want to carry the old CI-4 and the CJ-4 since the CJ-4 covers both the 3rd and 4th gen motors.

I'm sticking to the CI-4 as long as it's still availible.
