Tripled my range by adding 30 gallons

Rancho 9000

Not trying to flame these guys but if my truck is using a quart of oil every 2000 miles you can bet you tail-end that it's not leaving the dealership until it stops. What gets me is some of those guy think it's normal to use that much oil in that short of a distance. I've driven many gassers and even on the POS truck that smoked a little it still didn't burn that much oil. It would be 1 quart low at the 3000 mile oil change. This was on a 454 chevy.

My truck was leaking oil pretty bad(or so I thought) until a few days ago. I fixed the leak, and the oil level hasn't moved a bit. Just how it should be.

My brother has a y2k 3/4 with the 8. 1L. He doesn't have any oil consumption problems, but was losing coolant for a while. It wasn't hitting the ground and couldn't figure out where it was going. His dealer pressure tested his cooling system and found it wasn't leaking, but the coolant level was still dropping. He was adding to it on a weekly basis. The dealer told him to keep driving it. Well with only 9k left on the waranty, he took it to a different dealer who told him to leave it and they would tear it apart and figure out what was wrong. Come to find out, the coolant was in with the oil and they found no visible leaks, but determined it was a bad block. They said the block was pourous. Anyway, he got a new engine out of the deal.

I had a '99 chebby with the 5. 3 that eat a quart a week at 57000 miles. Every dealer I went to said that is normal for your mileage. One dealer told me to stop towing so heavy... . ah... . two quads is killing the truck?

so I trade it on on a '02 quad cab. now Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

mjendrejcak, a neighbor kid had a '96 chevy with the 305ci and it was doing the same thing on oil consumption. We pulled the intake off and found that the manafold gaskets had slid away from the intake ports and was pulling oil from the galley area.

GM eliminated the center bolts for the manafold... kinda stupid. Chris
