 I would like to know if anybody out there is having any problems with oil consumption. Just got back from Lake George and burned up a whole quart. My truck 2001 SLT quad cab with all the bells and whistles. I have been changing my oil faithfully every 3500 miles with Rotella T 15W 40. this is the first time it has burned any oil between changes. Yes I use the stratapore lf 3894 oil filter. I get everything from geno's. thanks Pete. ps the plug n power works great. Sorry I forgot the miles are 20,220 the truck really did not get good untill about 14,000. I forgot to mention that I do tow a TT 25 foot coachmen fully loaded it is about 6000 lbs. I also forgot to mention that I let my wife drive it home today it was her first time a little hard on it.

Almost 19,000 and change every 3750 and has never used enough oil to cause me to add any. Way less than a guart between changes. The blow by bottle only had maybe an 1/8 inch of oil in it. Unless you are driving really hard towing or something I think you may have a problem. Only other person that had a problem was a guy doing survey work he would drive down grade so steep it woudl run out the blow by!!!!

Engine needs to break in

Just tipping 17K and this will be the first oil change that I haven't used any oil. Took about three oil changes to settle the ETH in, was the same for the 99 I had also. Using the Rotella T and same oil filter as you.

My '99 didn't us any oil until I hit the 27,000 mile mark. Now I see the level on the dip stick start to drop after about 1,000 miles after oil change and I'm down a quart by the 1700 mile mark. Now have 37,000 miles on the rig. Use Premium Blue and 3894 filter. Change oil every 2,000 - 2,500 miles. Have not done any hard pulling and don't let it idle much. Not looking forward to having a dealer look at it.

Pete,

You didn't check the oil level right after shut down? Let it sit overnight to get an accurate reading. Oil drain back is slow on these trucks.

I am still using quite a bit of oil. I am not much of a mechanic so I have not figured out where it goes. Its not in the bottle and I took it to the dealer (dorks) and they only found a transmission leak.

I am going to start monitoring it more closely.

Dennis
