What a breeze! Next to replaceing the water pump, this was a very simple job.
It was also time to replace the anti-freeze so i started out by opening the drain on the radiator, but leaveing the radiator cap on, this drained at least 5 galons out of the system.
I also decided to replace the upper and lower radiator hoses, the lower hose was a real B**ch!! The clamp on the radiator side was in a very bad place, and i had a hard time getting a hold of it.
When i did get to the oil cooler, all you had to do is remove a few bolts, and out it comes, with a small amout of antifreeze.
With the cooler removed i'm sure i got out 99% of the old anti-freeze out of the system.
I put it all back together but left the thermostat out, and filled the system with distilled water. I started the truck and ran it for a couple of minutes, drained it, and did this four times( I work in a power plant, endless supply of water).
All in all the oil cooler is a very simple job.

P. S. I also replaced the prefilter screen, with 86000 miles the screen looked new (what a shock).
