Fuel prices in upstate NY

Well oil may be at roughly $52. 00 on the market but a gallon of diesel fuel here is between $2. 79 to $2. 89 a gallon. So if you think you are getting piped look at what we who live in the great state of NY are paying. Home heating oil is at $2. 49. 9 here also!!! No matter big oil needs it's billions in profits each quarter on our backs. Now that we know that the market price is reflected a month from now when the price of a barrel goes down today, unlike when the spike in pump prices tommorrow refelects yesterdays spike in oil prices on the market. How come it is fast to rise and slow to lowerpump prices? They are making billions with a B, all you need do is listen to the quaterly stock market reports from Exxon etc :-{}

Actually, here are the trends of commodity market prices for crude oil, gasoline, heating oil (diesel), etc. - GRAPH.

Its crazy, I can drive 5 miles and find diesel ranging from 2. 35(high volume stations) to 2. 89(low vol stations)



gas is ranging anywhere from 1. 81-1. 93 for 87 octane or whatever it is... I noticed premium (only gas that I buy, for the bike) was about 2. 07, this summer I was paying 2. 40ish for it.

Well, good for you. But reg gas here in Bothell Washington is still around $2. 60 at the cheap station. Quite a bit higher in Seattle and anywhere else. Its so blatantly obvious that the high cost is only to support oil company profits (they got us used to paying high prices, and we pay it because we dont have any choice. There is no competition between oil companies anymore, and therefore, there is no "market at work" for fuel prices to the consumer), I dont understand why the newly elected dem congress isnt making a big deal about it. Thats all they could talk about a few months ago.



Regarding the graphs on a previous post, it makes my point. Wholesale gas prices are way down, but not to the consumer.

We had $3. 00 gasoline in Houston at its peak last year. Today, on my drive to work, it's $1. 979 for unleaded regular. That looks to me like our retail prices have followed the graphs fairly well.

Yes, a lot of the country has had lower gas prices. My major beef (for this discussion) is that here in Seattle, the prices have NOT gone down (only a few cents if that much). It is said it is because of our high gas tax. But in Minnesota, where they have a similar gas tax, it sounds like gas prices are similar to yours. And unless you have a very low gas tax in Texas, I wouldnt be surprised if there wasnt some politics in Texas that put your prices lower than ours.

And for anyone who thinks I work for a oil company, well I wish. I spent over $25,000 dollars last month on fuel alone. :{

wow you must either have a hole in you fuel tank or putting that fuel a big cross atlantic cargo ship cuz thats alot of fuel. er maybe is it a over land cross north america cargo ship?
