Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Oil drain plug?

Well I was looking at Geno's catalog and saw some oil drain valves. Well I did a search and all the info I found was from early 2001 and was wardering if the views and opinions have changed on the 2 style oil drain plugs. The type you need a special drain tube foe or the type that you just seem to push with your finger, which one is better. Which one lets out the most oil. Thanks

I have the brass finger drain valve on my gasser car. It's the same one in the Geno's catalog, made by Fumoto Engineering. It's high quality and doesn't leak. I like it. Just make sure that it's protected from impact. I recommend that valve that does NOT have the hose nipple on it, since the nippled model sticks out farther, making it easier to get stuck on something.



I stuck with the OEM plug on my CTD. When/if I have problems with it, I will go with another Fumoto oil drain valve.

I have the one where you screw on the tube. Works just fine. When you're not using the tube, there is a brass cap that fits over the plug and the drain mechanism that protects it. Probably comes down to personal preference.

EZ CHANGE DRAIN PLUG

I went with the EZ Drain plug, The finger touch plug concerned me with unintentionally opening. With the EZ Drain plug, you have to screw the drain tube on to open the drain release valve which in my mind is safer. The previous post says it all... ... Personal Preference! I prefer the EZ Drain system.

As far as which drains more complete, I can only speak for the EZ system. It leaves next to nothing in the pan. I actually unscrewed the EZ Drain plug to confirm this after using the EZ the first time.

Personal Preference says it all.
