This is a dumb question, but I was wondering, what is the best method to remove the oil drin plug from the bottom of the pan? It seems that a standard 3/8 drive breaker bar fits, but there is some slack in it. Before I bugger up the plug, just wanted to get another opinion. Thanks!! :)

That's all it is, a 3/8 extension on a rachet works well. As long as somebody hasn't messed it up before that will work fine.

Order you a replacement plug from Geno's Garage with a hex head on it. I assure you that the factory plug will crack after a few changes.

I finally put in one of the quick drains from Geno's 2 changes ago. It is so nice to reach under, flip a lever, and drain it! It might not get every last drop, but there is a way to drill some small holes in the threads if you're worried about it. Best oil change ever!

thanks for the replys! Will definately be careful when removing the plug. Sounds like a good idea to have a new one from Genos available in the future! Thanks again :)

I've heard people say this, but they must have different plugs than mine. My plug is very large, and it would take a great deal of torque to crack it, I think. In over 60k miles and 20 oil changes I've yet to have any trouble whatsoever with the plug. I simply hand-tighten it with my hand over the rachet head until it's "snug". Never leaked a drop.
