Oil mist diagnose today

I noticed oil spots on my driveway when I pulled in from work today. My truck has never dripped oil and I looked underneath and it was drip, drip, drip, from the rear main area. I changed the oil less than 4000 miles ago and the oil change place I have used for 95% of my oil changes in the 274,xxx miles was closed. I went to another and they only had Valvoline Blue, so that is what I went with. I have used Chevron Delo 400 for every one before that. Could the Valvoline have caused my rear main seal to leak? Thanks!

Could the "oil change place" have overfilled the crankcase with the Valvoline Blue? I would suggest checking the oil level and go from there.....

yes it could, my 04 does this when i change brands, the next change to the same oil it stopped leaking... i'd run for another oil run and see.

Mine started to do this recently after the change to the new C-4 oil. Do I trust it and use the same oil? again. I have all ways used Delo 400 and am debating to just find some CJ-4 no matter what brand. To see if it stops.

I remembered my brother had the same experience with his '08 Duramax when he went with Valvoline when the oil change place didn't carry Delo. He changed back to Delo and the oil leak stopped. I think I will have it changed back to Delo, even if I have to take off work and miss my overtime pay.

Killer223. FYI, O'Reillys has Valvoline Premium Blue on sale until the end of the month for $12.99 a gallon. In addition, buy 2 gallons and get a $10 gift card which makes it $8 a gallon. Max of 2 rebates which is 4 gallons. Bought 4 gallons myself yesterday. Unlike Delvac or Delo, Premium Blue CK-4 still maintains a large amount of Phosp and Zinc according to PQIADATA.ORG testing.
