hello

mid road trip while i was on leave i noticed a drip of oil on my front axle while i was getting fuel. the motor is new and it was a dry motor up to that point, so i slid under and looked. it seemed to be coming from right where the power steering pump connects the the rest of the motor. would that be an o-ring maybe? if so do you guys know if it is a generic o-ring or special. or am i completely wrong?

i was on my way to drop the truck off to get it shipped to me in iceland so right now its in a box somewhere in between. me i am just worried cause i have to fix what ever it is while i am here.

thank you for the help i am sure to get.

Nick

If you're talking about where the P/S pump connects to the vacuum pump, there is a seal & o-ring between the pump that goes out. Search the archives for "vacuum pump seal". You can get replacement parts from CPFF on this board.

Keep in mind that the p/s pump connects to the vac pump with a seal and an o-ring, but where whole assembly (vac pump and p/s pump) bolts to the gearcase there is a gasket in there. I had a leak at that exact place, I thought it was the joint between the vac pump and p/s pump, but it wasn't.

The dodge number for that gasket is 4638531 and it's about $7. 00 from what I recall.

Good luck,

Mike

where is the ps pump located, drivers side or passengers. i have a leak and by the time i get under it to see where it is comign from it looks like both sides. guidence is appreciated.

It's on the driver's side, fairly low down under the injection pump. The vacuum pump mounts to the back side of the gearcase & the power steering pump mounts to the rear of the vacuum pump.
