Hey guys,

Found lots of posts on leaking rear/front seals but none on the oil filler tube. I haven't tried to take it apart yet to see if it is dried up or cracked yet.

Are there gaskets/seals in it?

Is it just pressed into the timing cover, or does it screw into it somehow?

Any part numbers for replacement bits?

Thanks,

I can't remember looking at a 1st gen filler
The 2nd gen has a seal where the adapter screws into the timing cover and another where the tube screws into the adapter

Please provide complete truck vin or engine serial number, either will work. If you prefer to not post it you are welcome to e-mail it to me.

Ron and Mike,

Here are some old Cummins part #'s, Tube, it takes two, 3902363 and for the mount (one) 3903475.

Nick

all the parts thread to gether ( cap to tube, tube to base, base to cover ) all joints have rubber seals in them, you can change them out and the new ones be ok for a little bit but they will start to leak again, I changed them on mine a little over a year ago and they leak already, I've seen the same issue on the ISX Cummins in big trucks that use the same tubes and seals.

As Nick has posted it takes 2 of 3902363 (#2 on illustration) and 1 of 3903475 (#3 on illustration).

To remove it unbolt any braces and twist it counter-clockwise about a 1/4 of a turn (lefty loosey)..... it will release from the front cover.

If you really want to know, you can use a large chemical resistant 0-ring on the down tube and it will stop leaking... . RTV works, too, but makes hit hard to unscrew when you need to. I use RTV on the large square O-ring against the gear cover, but if you want a new one, the Cummins number for that large, square ring is 3903475... . :D If you want the smaller ring for the tube and that goes on the screw on cap, try Cummins part number 3902363.....

Ummm, ok... ... No more walking away from my computer with the windows open..... Mike beat me to it, as usual..... :D I just didn't know it... . as usual!! :-laf
