Where might I find a strap type filter wrench ? I'm going to take my truck in the dealer for oil and filter as none of my wrenches will work, at least I don't want to try them. Also would like to know where I might load up on the best oil filter.

Thanks Jim

There was a posting I ran across that mentioned a filter wrench that is made by Snap-On. Bought a strap wrench from the local, non chain, parts place and have not had any problems. Biggest problem is in getting the strap around the bottom and back of the filter. Always gets hung up! Good luck.

The consensus is that the best wrench is the strap wrench that NAPA sells which has a fabric strap and the best deal on filters is Geno's Gatrage. bg

I bought mine from KD tools and it was a little ove $6. 00 and works great. Here is the link and I hope this works!!!

I bought a strap wrench set from Sears.

The set came with one big one and one small wrench. Both are made of rubber and plastic.

One end of the straps is removeable, so getting under and around the filter for tightening and loosening was a breeze. Both come in real handy for other light-duty wrench related jobs around the house too. Cost was around $20 for the pair.

Picked up one at Autozone for around $6. 00, made in China, not the greatest but it works. Plan on picking up a better one in the future.

If you're having to use a strap wrench every time you change oil you're putting the filter on way to tight. This is my second cummins and I have never had to use a wrench save first time from factory.
