If they haven't changed, the Mopar filter is the same as the standard Fleetguard. Not as good as the microglas which is not as good as the stratapore.

filters

I used wix to about 75,000 miles then went to fram up about 300,000 miles oil changes were at 10,000 mile intervals then I was told they were no good and rotella was not good either, what do I know ? So I switched to Delo and fleetguard. now at 800,000 miles, oil changes at 8,000 mi, the motor still runs strong and uses about a quart between changes. Stormy

I always heard wix were xlint filters. Used from day one. At the same time, Heard to stay away from fram. Cases were weak.

Been using the Mobil 1 filters the last 50k

:-laf Does anybody actually think Chrysler builds their own oil filters ?... . or Cummins,..... or Caterpillar ??? I used to work for WIX. They build a premium quality filter. They make NAPA filters, American Parts, and several of the OE Manufacturers. I've been out of the business too long to be up to date as to who's making who's filters today, but as far as I know, Fram has never been an OE supplier.

Sormy,

What do you do to drive an average of 65 to 70K miles per year!!!!

That's alot of seat time.

I wish I could say the same for my '96. Turned 399,000 yesterday but it uses 2-3 quarts per change and it's showing signs of fatigue. Rings & bearings are in its eventual future.

One reason I use Stratapore only is because of the number and size of the oil flow holes (much larger than Wix & everyone else except Mopar). I always tell guys to get a Stratapore and set it next to their favorite filter, and point out the B-series Cummins oil pump has the capacity to flow 20 gallons of oil per minute

Does anyone have an opinion on the K&N Oil Filters?

I never had any problems with them on either of my race cars, I used them because they could withstand the higher oil pressures.

IMO, fleetgaurd is a darn good filter, and to those that don't think fram supplies OEM, do you honestly think they are making the majority of their profits by selling to backyard DIYer market sector  I've seen enough writing on the wall to believe that fram does build OEM filters, however, everyone must draw their own conclusions I suppose.

Delo 400 all the way. My oil analysis have never been as good as they are with Delo.

Um, as for cummins, Yes, They have this wholly owned subsidiary that used to be called "Fleetgaurd" , & now is called "Cummins Filtration" So Indeed, Yes Cummins does make there own filters.

Filters

Back when I worked for Cummins we had a bunch of engines come back with scored cyl and scored pistons Cummins replaced all of these engines and then done a check to see what happened what had happened was the neoprene inside the filters was comming apart and clogging the piston cooling nozzles they released a letter stateing that they would not replace any more engines that had been run with Fram Wix Carcraft or napa oil filters I have rebuilt engines that have hung pistons with the Fram and Wix filters the last one which was 2 months ago was a Fram. So use what you want to it is a crap shoot. A lot of engines go a long time before they run into a bad filter.

I don't understand what the problem is with the reluctance to use Fleetguard filters. They are easy to get. No warrantee problems. No worry about plugging up cooling nozzles. The price is about the same or even less. I pay less for LF3894 filters at the local Peterbilt shop than Geno's wants. A little over $7 each the last time I bought a case of them.

Yup, I agree, a good filter in my books too. I just switched from luberfiner to fleetgaurd a little while back. I'm getting the FLs for about $5 US a filter.
