oil filter?

I was just looking for an oil filter for my dad( he has a 2006) from geno's and seen the 3rd gen filters can be used on 89 to 06 but the one for the 24 valve can not be used on a 3rd gen, does anybody know what is the difference in the filters?

I believe the main difference between the 3rd Gen. filters & the others is the "fluted" end of the filter that allows the use of a socket (cap) type tool for the filters removal.



The others require a band type wrench since the bottom of the filter housing is smooth.
