Heard some negs. about Fram oil filters. Any truth that they leak goo or some such? What are you guys using, if not Fram?? Have an 01 and sure want to use the right filter. I'm using Baldwin on my boat,Volvo diesel, and they seem ok, and they have a filter for the Cummins. Anything on them? Thanx

Use only filters on Cummins approved list or your warranty is no good for an engine failure. Fleetguard are the filters to use. Do a search on recent threads about this subject to get the whole story and part numbers for the right filters.

I guess I'll be the different one here. Since I work for a GM dealership, and drive a CTD ( does that tell you what I think of the Duramaxx) I use the AC Delco PF1070. Since its on the list as being ok to use. Plus I get them for a really good price. $6. 75 each. I wouldn't use a FRAM filter on anything even if I got them for free. Working in the dealerships service dept. I've personally seen FRAMS fail in just about every way possible. Even took one off a 2001 Yukon that was in for an oil pressure complaint and when I took it off there was filter material clogging up the outlet port in the block. Had to pull the engine, disassembled it and it was everywhere in that motor, plus just about clogged the oil cooler in the radiator up. Gm sent the field engineers to look at this mess and they told the owner they would fix the truck under warranty, But to never use that brand of filter again. Even gave him a list of the filters that they would use. AC & WIX. Short list! The total cost to GM for this vehicle was over $7500. 00 . They sent in a new complete production engine to install in this truck. Then on top of this the owner had the nerve to ***** and moan about the time it took to fix his truck and that GM would not give him a rental equal to what he was driving. He had to make due with a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSE.

Go Figure! The way I saw it , he was damn lucky they gave him a brand new engine when it clearly wasn't GM's fault the the FRAM filter came apart. I'm sure if he had to wait for Fram to come out and investigate, decide what they would do, he'd still be waiting.

when i got my rig, they made me sign a paper saying that if i didnt use an approved filter, mopar, fleetgaurd, 1 other i cant remember, my engine warratee is void if damage is caused by defective filter.

Fleetguard!!! Also try your local John Deere dealer they carry Fleetguard, 99% of them carry the filter for the Cummins engine too. They are a little higher (about 50cents at my local) than Geno's, but closer...

Does anybody know if there is a cross referenced Stratopore filter that will fit into the Amsoil Dual Bypass system? I ask just because you can't go wrong with Fleetguard.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with Amsoil filters at all... I just want to get away from filters that use Cellulose material.
