Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) oil filters

Stopped by Cummins today to get an oil filter for my 02. I asked for the lf16035 Stratopore. The guy told me that unless I was using synthetic oil (Im not), I was better off with a lf3959. He gave me a story about how the molecules are different between delo and synthetic.



Was he blowing smoke up my you know what ?

I think that the 3959 is just the standard filter (maybe even paper) whereas the 16035 (got four of them sitting in my livingroom right now from Geno's) is the long-life Stratopore. Besides, who cares about the oil molecules, aren't we just stopping the dirt ones? :-laf

John Martin recently reported in TDR (Issue 71, p. 60) about oil filters; Stratapore is better.
