I got just a few small drops on the bell housing directly behind the crankcase breather hose. Probably not enough for concern, but why if any would be the reasons for this?Just looking for info.

how many miles on the truck? on top of the valve cover (under the plastic vanity one) there is a filter/oil seperator with a fleetguard # on it. Wonder if this gets full and starts to overflow out the vent. Ive only seen one briefly during a injector change so dont know exactly how it works.

A little oil dripping from the breather hose is normal. They usually do it right after an oil change, and then they will drip a little after that. Some guys deal with it, other guys make a fitting (toilet paper) to catch the oil. Just monitor your oil level, and don't worry about it.

3700 miles and my oil level has been steady since the oil change at 2k so I am not loosing or gaining anything on the dipstick.

I wish someone would repost the part numbers for the catch all bottle. My front diff is a mess. I think my front pinion seal is leaking but no way to be sure since the hose leaks all over it.

Hercules130,

My 06 was doing the same thing, I attached a hose to the end of the breather tube. This confirmed that my pinion seal was indeed leaking.

The hose that I installed was around ten inches, then when I replaced the seal, I cut the hose to five inches.

I have extended the breather hoses on all of my CTD's, it sure makes for a cleaner truck this way.
