I've got a filter package coming from Gino's and will be doing my own oil/fuel filter change in the near future. I'm not a total dummy when it comes to mechanics but I've never owned a Cummins before. Seems simple enough, but is there anything I should know? How does the fuel filter come out? Just unscrew the cap. Where is the water sensor and how do I clean that? Thanks in advance. This is a great board.

Jack -

The filter is obvious to remove, gorilla grip it and it will open like a jar of PB. Just DONT use a socket driver in the square center hole if yours still has one, it will crack, use a socket, and in fact don't even use a wrench, just a socket. Sensor is in the bottom, obvious once you climb in and look, drain the bowl completely by opening the tap and turning on the key for a moment, that will start the flow, then turn the key off and let it finish draining.

When you restart, cycle the key on for 20 seconds a couple of times to refill the filter bowl, then start. Its the simplest fuel filter change and re-prime ever in a diesel by anyone.
