Has anyone had any issues with an oil leak coming from the the front right area? My leak looses about 1 gallon per 3,000 miles. Facing the fan it is definitely coming from the right side somewhere below the fan. I believe the leak started when I was backing uphill about a year ago. It was a steep but short paved section of about 30 feet, and I could barely get traction because I had to make a sharp turn to the left. I noticed when I stopped at the top there was a trail of oil and it had blown out - probably about a pint in volumn.

Any ideas? Is it a seal, gasket, or worse? It doesn't appear to be getting worse, but I would like to stop the leak.

Thanks for your input

Ben

does your truck hav ethe catch bottle atttatched to the bloy by tube? it should be on the drivers side from the gear cover. a lot of people dont realize they are there, they have vent holes and when you get on a grade it will dump the oil out of the hole. check your radiator also because the fan will pull th eoil out and spray it in the fan making it acumulate dirt and plug up pretty quick, look between the intercooler and radiator.

What year unit do you have? :( An 01, yea I can read, sometimes :)

You may have the dreaded KDP. There is a dowel pin that aligns the timing cover to the block that can back out causing damage to the cover.

Welcome to the site Ben.

Rare on the 01s, a look-see won't hurt though.
