is it possible for the KDP to come out and a person not know it? where does the oil leak show up at if the case is cracked? how bad is the leak? I've been waiting on the jig, but in the meantime have started reviewing some oil leaks on my engine. it seems that my oil pan gasket weeps, but it has been doing this for some time because the oil is covered with road dirt and is not fresh.

In addition, I have never got the the turbo oil return line to stop leaking since 30,000 miles. The dealer tried, lasted about 5,000 miles, and I have tried twice. (new silicone hose from Cummins, double hose clamps, etc. ) it seems to leak from where the line runs into the oil pan. I cleaned this area off with brake cleaner and applied some high-temp silicone, but 5,000 miles later it's leaking again. I have given up and just keep cleaning the passenger side of the engine with Simple Green. the whole passenger side of the engine, motor mount, and transmission stays damp with oil because it is blown back by the engine fan. is there something else I can seal the tube with, besides silicone?

The oil from the KDP damage is very evident. IT will drip from the front of the engine on the passenger side of the truck. Mine dripped from the gear housing then got blown everywhere. It aslo seemed to be coming from the A/C compressor too. It would leave a spot about 2 inches or more in diameter after sitting for a couple of hours.

Sorry, I can't help ya on the turbo hose leak. I haven't had that problem yet.

as I understand it, the pin may have partially worked it's way out. If I read correctly, this will be evident by the drill/stop not going in all the way. If this is the case, looks like I have to remove the front cover. Maybe I don't understand where the pin is located, but if I have drilled through the cover and the pin is partially out, couldn't I take a drift and hammer the pin back in through the hole I made in the cover? Is there no room to swing a ball peen hammer down there?

If the pin is out, you'll have to pull the front cover.

The pin goes in from the front, and you drill down perpendicular (90 deg) to it with the jig. If the drill stops, then you are hitting the side of the pin. There is no way to drive it back in,as you wouldn't be able to get at it,without taking the cover off.

now, things are starting to make since. is it possible that if the drill bit goes all the way to the stop, that my pin has already fallen out? (even if I don't have a case crack or munched up timing gears)

I've talked to one person who found his pin when he drained his oil. There was no apparent damage so it is possible for a pin to come out without you even knowing it. With the jig fix you would never know that it fell out. I sort of doubt many pins make it to the oil pan without causing damage along the way since no one here has reported finding a missing pin when performing the tab fix nor finding a pin in their drain oil.

I guess anythings possible, but i don't think there is much room for the pin to get through in one piece. If it has,it's probably in the pan and won't hurt anything, but I doubt it.
