Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Oil leak at bell housing mate surface to block

I have 02 H. O. 6 spd. with 87k on it. I'm getting oil drips coming from what appears to be the rear main seal. Any of you have a truck with similar miles on it and experienced rear main seal problems? The truck has been amsoiled since the beginning and does not use oil at all. The leak isn't enough to show on the dipstick, just the driveway. Have not gone to dealer yet since I'm 2K miles from home at the moment, but I wonder if the 100K warranty will replace the rear main seal? Any experience replies are welcome.

I would chck to see if oil is coming from farther forward i. e. blow-by tube, leaking P. S. pump, etc. Also make sure valve cover gasket isn't leaking in back and running down and make sure oil pan isn't leaking. Could also be input shaft seal on transmission. Lots of things to check, best bet is some degreaser and high pressure car wash to clean everything off then run it and try to narrow it down.

I had very similar problem, it turned out to be rocker cover gasket. Thank goodness for dye and black-light.

I have a very slow leak, too slow to drip but leaves an oily film. Mine is leaking from one of the rear engine oil pan bolts.

I thought my truck was leaking around the bellhousing... . turned out to be the rocker cover leaking at the back running down.
