Anyone ever have oil coming out the vent hose on the front diff, just started to notice oil on the plastic inner fender and found it to be coming from the vent hose. Oil level is good, but why would oil be pushing out the vent.

Thanks Robert

Had it happen a couple of times. It is normal, but messy. Keeps the frame rust free though.

Two potential causes:

1. Overfilling the front diff. The level is supposed to be slightly below the fill hole (about 5/8" if I remember). However usually this results in the seals weeping - not the vent hose.

2. Parking with the pass side down then driving at high speed. This is the cause of my leak. If you leave the vehicle with the passenger side low, oil drains into the CAD housing where the vent tube leaves. Then by driving at high speed, the pressure builds and forces a small amount of oil out the tube. It doesn't take alot to make a big mess.

Just make sure the vent tube is not blocked and clean up the mess. If pressure builds inside the diff you may blow out the seals.

Makes since, over the weekend it was parked right side lower, and then I headed home 65-70 MPH. Maybe that is all it is. Thanks
