my 2007 6. 7L has an oil leak behind computer mount plate

loosened computer and mount plate

when we moved the plate a steel "thimble" fell out from behind it

there is a hole that may be for a different dipstick location

we think the plug fell out from there

we put the thimble back in but it went in too easy

so we put red loctite on it and siliconed it too

i'm wondering if i may have a ventilation problem

with the crankcase i'm not sure where the vent is

does anyone have any ideas

thanks

i let the loctite and silicone harden up for a couple hours

and then took ir for a drive so far its not leaking

but i dont really know what caused that thimble to come out

could it be too much pressure in the crankcase or did it

just work its way loose

thanks

mine did that last year when coming back from camping the dealer said its just a plug in block for different locations for dip stick

thanks jam but did the dealer say what may have caused it?

maybe rattled loose or crankcase ventilation problem?

any info greatly appreciated!

If it was a plastic plug, then it should have been replaced with a steel plug. Kind of like a freeze plug. Had the same thing happen on an engine replacement in a bus that I did. Didn't even see the darn thing. The bus made it 1 mile down the road before it popped out.
