I have a 2001 quad cab 4wd which just began leaking engine oil. My friendly Dodge dealer says that without the extended warranty (and with 83000 miles) Chrysler is not responsible for stopping the oil leak and that the Cummins warranty will not even consider it because the leak is at an accessory point (not the motor, but the shaft that comes from the motor). Has anyone else encountered this or seen this fixed without spending $2500 (parts and labor) for a replacement vacuum pump ( since there is no rebuild/ reseal kit, the only option is pump replacement)?

There is a seal kit for that problem. Do a search of the forums to find more info. I believe member CPFF offers a kit. I think there is also another kit in the classifieds by someone else.
