My buddy has an 02' 4x4 with a 5 speed and it developed a leak behind the timing cover. He took it to a reliable shop with a lot of experience(I won't say who yet) and they fixed the leak and put a new damper on it. They said the rubber was bad in it? After he picked it up he noticed it would rev up on it's own but go right back down. Last night he said it wouldn't hardly run so he checked codes with his smarty and got p0341, p0602, and p1693. He cleared the codes and now it wont run. I think they put something back together wrong (out of time) but they said to replace the CPS. Is there anything to do to rule out the CPS? He left the smarty on his truck by accident at the shop, but surely they didn't flash anything for just an oil leak. It ran fine before going to the shop so thats why I think it's something they did and not the CPS. Thanks

P0341-CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR SIGNAL MISSING

P0602-ECM FUELING CALIBRATION (smarty ghost code, its a code I get a lot on the truck in my signature)

check to see that they didn't unhook the cam sensor or didn't break a wire, its hidden under the injection pump, I don't think they would of hurt anything changing the dampener, they might of caught it when fixing oil leak, what side was the oil leak on?

Also, they wouldn't of been able to flash the truck if the smarty was downloaded into the truck (dodge dealer right?)

The cps is located under the fuel filter housing on a vp44 truck

The leak was between the block and front cover. The shop said it had the p0602 code when the truck was taken in, thats why I thought they may have flashed it or something. It was not a Dodge dealer so they probably didn't. I looked at the truck earlier and the wiring connector to the CPS was about to fall out. I guess when they pushed it on it didn't lock. I cleared the codes but they came back after it started and idled for a few minutes. It seems to run fine so maybe it's good to go.

I read somewhere that you have to pull the cam to replace the gasket between the cover and block, but doesn't the cam gear bolt to the cam? It took them a day and a half and $1100  There are new gaskets on both sides of the cover so it was kind of a lengthy job.

Yeah, both codes p0602 and p01693. It runs fine though so maybe it's just the smarty? It's also got the stock cam too.

put it back to stock and see if the code comes back, also get the smarty updated if it hasn't been done

if it isn't a dodge dealer, then they can't update the computer
