My friend just bought a 95 3500 with 527,000 miles it is leaking oil

bad from the throttle shaft on the injection pump can this be fixed in the truck or does the pump have to come off any input is much appreciated

thanks Tim

I have never tried to fix one on the truck, but they can be repaired by a DYIer. Be careful and very clean. Get the parts from a pump shop. They might be reluctant to sell the parts to you. The more numbers you have off the pump, the happier you will make them...

The pump probably have to come off. I haven't heard of it being able to repaired still attached to engine.

With that many miles on it the pump needs to be rebuilt.

There are many shops plus members that can rebuild one.

why? does it need to be rebuilt if it is only leaking oil and truck runs fine with good power cant just the oil leak be repaired the pump was already rebuilt at one time in its life

diesel tim'

Your right if it is only oil leak the pump probably doesn't need a rebuild. But no one knew the pump had already been rebuilt.

It probalby only needs the seal(s) as long as the pump isn't sending oil to the cylinders.

MY understanding is the p7100 pump is cooled by fuel and oil. I did not think that the oil actually touched throttle shaft or any shaft. But I could be very wrong.

You should contact one of the pump gurus they can you tell alot more.
