Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) oil leak from vacum pump

My 99 cummins' vacum pump is leaking engine oil. I'm stuck 100 miles from home and the local dealer wants $1300 to fix it. This seems excessive to me. If anyone can tell me if this is right please responed.

D/C only services the complete unit. Look at this thread and the link in the thread. The fix is likely low cost. Too bad it's not in your driveway.

This thread mentions "around $1200" for parts and labor at the dealer. It also mentions $24 if you fix it yourself.

Thomas, thanks for the reply. I guess I have to let the dealer fix it because I don't have any way of doing it myself until I get home. I think I'll tell the dealer their price is too high, maybe they'll cut me a break.
