I thought it was a head gasket. But after 12000miles and pulling 12000# trailer for most of it. I don't think that is it. I was losing 2 quarts of oil every oil change 5000miles. But now it is a quart a week. It looks like it might be coming from the left side timing cover housing. But not sure. Has there been anybody with a leaky timing cover housing? What other things should I look for ?

Like are there any bolts that go into the oil gales? Any ideas or help would help!!!

I know it's an outside shot but...

... "illflem" previously stated that he had heard of a 24v CTD as new as 2001 with a KDP (Killer Dowel Pin) problem. That said, what if... .

Anyway, if the oil is coming from the region just slightly below the fan pulley which is mounted with four (10 mm head) flange head bolts, it is a distinct possibility that the internal dowel pin had backed out of its bore, dropped onto a gear and basically "shot" through the cast aluminum gear case. Removal of the serpentine belt and fan assembly will disclose this.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

Please let us know.

Are you sure it's not a leak at the oil return hose for the turbo? [either at the gasket or at the clamped hose connection]

Might be the seal is bad in Vaccum pump. Look at Vaccum pump from under truck. If it is leaking you will see engine oil between Vaccum pump and power steering pump and all down left side of engine. Mine did this last week. Had to get new Vaccum pump to get new seal.

the seal for the vac pump is availible , a search will find you the number.

let me know if anyone needs it, I have the number on the parts box in the garage.
