How far back does the warranty go (5 years -100,000 miles) on the engine?I have a oil leak on the pan or the bell housing between the engine and the automatic transmission. Not a bad leak and most of it seems on the bell housing. Where does the engine warranty stop? Thanks

Is the leak on the rear shoulders and back of the oil pan? There is a TSB for that. In addition, you may have the oil pan bolts vibrating loose  This happened to me. I re-tightened the bolts and no more leak.

Hey Turbo Terry,

What year is your truck? mine has the same problem, and does anybody know what years the TSB covers?

Thanks,

Ted

If you spilled any oil while filling your CTD that will be where it ends up dripping. Could be a loose oil flilter or spilled oil. If not try tightening all of the oil pan bolts to torque spec first. Because you don't want to know what the dealer has to do to put in a new oil pan seal :(

If it's just dripping, I doubt is a mail seal. Have you checked your oil? If you have to add oil frequently, you might have a problem. If you don't, I suggest reading my previous post before you do anything drastic. Check the easy stuff first.

Keep in mind, the dealer WILL HAVE TO REMOVE your transmission for this to be done.

TKOBI... ... be carfeul if you have the dealer do this. The dealer that did mine mis-adjusted the low throttle pressure cable which in turn toasted my DTT transmission. No coarse of action to take with the dealer so I had to have my transmission rebuilt again at my expense.

Try re-torquing the pan bolts first.

Good luck.

I guess the "pill bottle" was removed before I got the truck, my engine is wet with oil above and to the left of where my breather hose is, close to what I think is the water pump? I guess I could call the stealers around here and ask if that is covered.

The TSB is covered under Dodges... ... . 100k warranty. Remember that Dodge buys the engines from Cummins and they essentially turn into Dodge property (so to speak). Cummins will not warranty this... ... ... ... I checked. They say to go to Dodge.
